A 10 storey tall mural of local activist is being painted on the Novotel Sydney Rockford Darling Harbour.
The Novotel Sydney Rockford Darling Harbour is part of ANZ’s ‘Inspiring Locals’ street art project which aims to improve understanding, financial capability, and inclusion of Aboriginal Australians.
Australian artist, Adnate, has been commissioned to paint a ten storey tall mural of Aboriginal activist Jenny Munro on the Novotel Rockford’s main wall which faces Harbour St. This is part of a series of portraits that will appear across Sydney in the run up to this year’s Archibald Prize.
In 2014 Jenny Munro began the Redfern Tent Embassy to protest the establishment of a commercial precinct on the area known as ‘The Block’ in Redfern, Sydney.
Novotel Rockford’s Hotel Manager, David Sude said “It is really important to our team at Novotel Rockford that we continue to celebrate the inspirational people and the communities of New South Wales. So we’re thrilled to be a part of such an exciting project.”
The painting of the 10-storey mural commenced late June and can now be spotted at the Novotel Sydney Rockford Darling Harbour.
